Abby Wright turned and waved goodbye to Caleb Shaw and the others before heading to the elevator with Veronica Murphy. Once they were out of earshot, Miguel Lynch immediately asked Matthew Kings, “What exactly happened?”
“I’ll explain in the car. The three of them got into the MPV and settled in. Matthew Kings gave a brief explanation of the situation.
Miguel Lynch and Caleb Shaw grew anxious upon hearing the details. Caleb Shaw said, “Dealing with Conrad Kings is already troublesome enough, and now we have Flake targeting us. This situation could become quite challenging.”
Miguel Lynch sat sideways in his seat, crossed his legs, and began devising a plan. “Flavian Kings is doing well in Kyoland. If we reach out to him at a critical moment, it shouldn’t be a major problem.”
After all, they were father and son. When a biological father seeks out his son, emotions are bound to be involved. He wouldn’t simply stand by.
Matthew Kings shook his head, holding a cigarette in his hand. “He’s a businessman, and his willingness to help comes with conditions.”
He lowered the car window, flicked the cigarette ash outside, and said with a heavy heart, “I’m reaching out to you because I don’t trust Roni. If… and I stress if, something happens to me, take care of my wife and child.”
Miguel Lynch and Caleb Shaw had known Matthew Kings for over twenty years, but they had never heard him speak so despondently. The two friends exchanged glances and chuckled.
“What on earth are you talking about?” Miguel Lynch glanced at him sideways. “The hidden clan has weathered such a major storm, and you’re afraid of a mere Black Ace Mob?”
“Yeah, with us around, everything will be fine,” Caleb Shaw replied. After the two finished speaking, Matthew Kings raised his eyes and looked at them with eyes as sharp as obsidian, raising an eyebrow and smiling. “Do you truly believe what you just said?”
Miguel Lynch and Caleb Shaw exchanged another glance but remained silent. The situation with the hidden clan was different from this one.
In the hidden clan, there were Matthew Kings’ faction, Crayson’s faction, and Tanya Ledger’s faction. Veronica Murphy and Eleanor Gomez were both new heirs to King Dominik, but they had both relinquished their inheritance and had a close relationship in private. They had worked together to achieve ultimate victory.
However, Flake was the leader of the Castron Black Ace Mob, and the influence of the Black Ace Mob was like a spider’s web, infiltrating everywhere. After Matthew Kings suffered a major setback, it would be easy for them to target him.
Miguel Lynch leaned back in his seat and adjusted his glasses. “I have faith in your ability to handle this matter.” He pointed to himself and then to Caleb Shaw. “And if things get worse, there’s still me and the taciturn prick, as well as Drew.”
Matthew Kings smirked, holding the cigarette askew. “Unexpected things always happen. I just don’t want to see Roni get hurt or mistreated.”
“If I’m not mistaken, Flake is targeting you because of Antheena, and Antheena resents Veronica Murphy because Xavier Crawford likes her,” Caleb Shaw analyzed the situation logically. “I believe Veronica has the right to know.”
“Not telling her is a way to spare her from the pressure,” Matthew Kings understood Veronica Murphy well. He had nearly exhausted all his resources to assist her in the hidden clan’s affairs, and because of this, Veronica Murphy felt guilty.
If Veronica Murphy were to find out this time that Flake was targeting him because of her, Matthew Kings couldn’t fathom how she would face reality.
“I think Matthew has a point,” Miguel Lynch understood Veronica Murphy’s situation very well. He sighed, “It wasn’t easy for Veronica to be with Matthew. If she discovers that this incident is still because of her, the pressure will be immense. But then again, she is also a victim.”
Caleb Shaw nodded in agreement, “That’s true. But, bro, don’t overthink it. You’re making it sound like a final testament, and it’s making me nervous. Besides, Flake is only just starting to target Metric Technology. Maybe he just wants to scare you a little.”
