An Understated Dominance Chapter 2169 by Marina Vittori

“Let’s try again!”

The Sacred Wrym Summit disciple’s words failed to dissuade Laurel and Willow.

The sisters exchanged glances before unsheathing their swords. With swift motions, they targeted the Summit Shift Divine Talisman on Predator’s back. 1

Despite their persistent efforts, they quickly realized that removing the talisman was impossible. Thus, they redirected their efforts toward destroying it.

After all, it was just a talisman. They were confident that breaking it wouldn’t be any more challenging than shattering darksteel.

When Laurel and Willow’s swords struck the talisman, it instantly ignited with a brilliant burst of yellow light.

A powerful shockwave erupted in a flash and shattered the swords upon impact. The sheer force of the blast sent the sisters flying backward, causing them to cough up blood.

Stunned and bewildered, they exchanged incredulous looks. They hadn’t expected that such an ordinary- looking talisman could withstand their attacks.

It was truly unbelievable.

“I warned you before, but you didn’t listen. It’s like playing with fire.” The round-faced disciple of Sacred Wyrm Summit sighed helplessly.

He couldn’t help but wonder about the purpose of their rigorous training if ordinary swords could easily destroy the talisman.

“Even swords couldn’t destroy it. What material is this talisman made of?” Ruby marveled.

Dalen responded, “The Divine talisman of Sacred Wrym Summit possesses unique characteristics beyond its material composition. It’s infused with a special energy.”

He continued, “As far as I know, disciples at Sacred Wrym Summit who master the Glow Incantation and Stormcraft can practice the Primordial Energy Surge. This technique serves as the foundation of the Divine Talisman.”

“What’s that?” Ruby asked curiously.

Dalen explained, “Primordial Energy Surge is one of the Eight Mystical Arts of the martial world. Mastering this technique can unleash incredible power beyond imagination.”

He shrugged and added, “However, the specific effects of this power remain a mystery to me.”

“Sounds pretty mysterious.” Ruby nodded thoughtfully.

Miles smiled and explained, “Ruby, the Primordial Energy Surge is a secret technique of Sacred Wrym Summit. Only a select few are deemed worthy of learning it, which adds to its mystique.”

“So, do you guys think Dustin can lift that man up?” Ruby asked curiously.

Dalen explained, “Trying to lift it with brute force is useless.

“With the Summit Shift Divine Talisman pressing down on Predator, strength alone won’t help. The best way is to break the talisman’s restriction first.”

“But how?” Ruby asked.

“How should I know?” Dalen shrugged. He said seriously, “If I could do it, do you think I’d be standing here chatting with you?”

She couldn’t find the words to retort and rolled her eyes. After listening to him talk at length, she couldn’t shake the feeling that he had essentially said nothing of substance.

“Now, it’s all up to Dustin.” Dalen narrowed his eyes slightly and waved his folding fan.

He began to question if Dustin could be considered ordinary. After all, ordinary individuals couldn’t possibly break through the Divine Talisman.

“Mr. Rhys, we’re sorry. We failed our task and are ready to receive your punishment.”

With their broken swords in hand, Laurel and Willow approached Dustin to apologize. As his bodyguards, they felt deeply embarrassed for their failure to handle even such a simple task.

Dustin smiled faintly. “It’s okay. This talisman is indeed formidable. It’s not something you two could’ve handled alone. Don’t be too hard on yourselves.”

The round-faced disciple from Sacred Wrym Summit urged again, “Sir, I strongly advise you to reconsider. Master Caleb’s Divine Talisman is incredibly powerful. Persisting will only harm yourself and others.”

“The Divine Talisman of Sacred Wrym Summit may be potent, but it’s not invincible,” Dustin responded calmly.

“What? You’re not giving up?” The round-faced disciple frowned.

He cautioned, “Don’t say I didn’t warn you. The greater your force on destroying the talisman, the stronger the backlash. You might even be risking your life if you push too hard.”

“Thanks for the reminder. I know what I’m doing,” Dustin replied tersely before advancing toward Predator.

Everyone fell silent as they watched intently and murmured among themselves.

“Do you think he can do it? He looks pretty confident.”

“Just being confident doesn’t mean much. The Divine Talisman isn’t something just anyone can remove. Even if he’s strong, can he move a mountain?”

“You’re right! Besides those from Sacred Wrym Summit, only a handful of people can remove this Summit Shift Divine Talisman.”

“If he’s smart, he should give up now. Otherwise, the talisman’s backlash will hurt him.”

The group behind Quincy lacked confidence in Dustin for two main reasons.

Firstly, they hadn’t seen Dustin’s earlier encounter with Predator.

Secondly, the sheer power and renown of Sacred Wrym Summit were ingrained in their minds.

Those practicing the Divine Talisman technique were considered top-tier elites within the Sacred Wrym Summit. After all, their every action radiated unmatched strength.

“Dustin, you’ve got this! Don’t let us down!” Ruby nervously clenched her fists and mumbled to herself. She hoped he would win since he was on their side.

“Primordial Energy Surge, huh? Well, I happen to know about this technique,” Dustin said with a faint smile.

Then, he bent down and reached toward the Summit Shift Divine Talisman. Just as his fingertips were about to touch the talisman, a faint ring of white light appeared.

The light was soft, nonaggressive, clear, and gentle. It seemed almost alive as it swiftly penetrated the Summit Shift Divine Talisman.

The talisman shimmered briefly before returning to its serene state.

At that moment, Dustin’s fingers delicately pinched the edge of the talisman and pulled it.

The Summit Shift Divine Talisman, deemed untouchable by ordinary people, came off in his hand effortlessly. It left onlookers dumbfounded and in disbelief.

“How… How is this possible?” The round-faced disciple of the Sacred Wrym Summit’s eyes widened in disbelief.

Another person mirrored the same expression. He seemed to doubt his eyes as he rubbed them. He couldn’t believe the talisman was torn off just like that.

“Uh…” Caleb froze in disbelief. His pinky finger remained held up, caught in the middle of picking his nose, lending a humorous touch to his expression.

Summary An Understated Dominance by Marina Vittori

Dahlia Nicholson and Dustin Rhys had been married for three years. After Dahlia’s meteoric rise to success, she abandons the useless dead weight that’s Dustin, proposing divorce. Unbeknownst to her, everything she had ever achieved was only because of him.

Chapter 1 “Dustin, here is the divorce agreement prepared by Ms. Nicholson. All you need to do is sign them.” In the president’s office of the Quine Group, the secretary, Lyra Blaine, placed a piece of A4 paper on the table. A man sat opposite her, dressed in plain clothing. “Divorce? What do you mean?” Dustin Rhys was taken aback. “Do you not understand what I’m saying? Your marriage with Ms. Nicholson is over. You’re not even on the same level anymore. Your existence is nothing but a smear on the president’s reputation!” Lyra pulled no punches as she spoke. “A smear on her reputation?” Dustin frowned. “Is that how she thinks of me?” Back when they first got married, the Nicholson family was in ruinous debt. He was the one who helped them when they were at their lowest point. Now that they were rich, Dahlia Nicholson was ready to just kick him out. “Something like that.” Lyra jerked her chin toward the magazine on the table. A photo of a beautiful woman was printed on the front page. “Look at the headline on this magazine, Dustin. Ms. Nicholson’s net worth has hit one billion in the course of just three years, a feat no short of a miracle. She’s now the most desired woman in Swinton! With all this, she’s destined for greatness. But you, you’re just a regular joe. You don’t deserve her at all. I hope that you’ll see some sense and do the right thing.” When Dustin remained silent, Lyra frowned. “I know you’re not happy with this, but this is reality,” she continued. “You might have helped Ms. Nicholson when she was in trouble, but she has repaid you for everything you’ve done for her over the last three years. In fact, you’re the one who owes her now!” “Is our marriage just a business deal to her, then?” Dustin took a deep breath to suppress the emotions within. “If she wants to divorce me, let her speak to me herself.” “Ms. Nicholson is very busy. She doesn’t need to trouble herself with such trifling matters.” “Trifling matters?” Dustin was stunned. Then he laughed bitterly. “Is that so? Is divorce a trifling matter to her? She can’t even find the time to speak to me. Truly, she’s that unattainable now!” “Dustin, don’t delay this any longer.” Lyra pushed the divorce agreement toward him again. “Just sign here and you’ll get a car and a house as compensation. On top of that, you’ll also get eight million dollars. This is more than what you’ll be able to earn in your lifetime!” “Eight million dollars is a lot, but…I don’t need it. I will sign the divorce papers if she comes personally. Otherwise, I won’t sign anything,” Duston said coldly. “Don’t go too far, Dustin!” Lyra slammed her hand on the table. “Don’t say I didn’t warn you. With all her power and resources, Ms. Nicholson can divorce you easily. It’s only because she appreciates her past relationship with you that she’s allowing you to keep your dignity intact. Don’t provoke her!” “My dignity?” Dustin was a little amused by that. She didn’t even want to speak to him directly to divorce him. What kind of dignity was that? Moreover, if she really did appreciate their relationship, then why was she threatening him now?
