An Understated Dominance Chapter 1981 by Marina Vittori

Everything occurred in a flash, from the appearance of the mutant piranha to the swallowing of a Black Scorpion Squad member, and then the disappearance of the mutant piranha.

It was so fast that no one could wrap their head around the incident.

The Black Scorpion Squad member that was swallowed disappeared before he could shout for help. All that was left were splashes on the lake’s surface as blood gurgled up rapidly from below.

“W-What?” Dozer and the other member were shocked beyond words. Both of them widened their eyes in terror and looked around with a frightened expression.

What just happened? Where did their team member go? Why was there blood gurgling up from below?

“Why are you two still there? Swim for your life!” Recovering from his shock, Garrett yelled loudly.

“Yes… save ourselves!” Dozer and the other team member suddenly came to their senses. They started flailing their arms and legs around as they swam toward the shore as fast as they could without a second thought.

At this time, everyone who was getting ready to jump into the lake was so stunned that they remained rooted to the ground.

Even though they didn’t see what happened clearly, one thing was for sure. There was danger lurking in the lake.

The black and huge shadow that flashed through earlier, the Black Scorpion Squad member that disappeared, and the gurgling blood were enough to prove that there was a man-eating monster in the lake!

The mutant piranha leaped out again from the lake causing waves as Dozer and the other team member were trying their best to swim to safety.

This time, the mutant piranha was faster as it attacked from behind and it chomped on the head of the remaining Black Scorpion Squad member.

“Ah!” The other Black Scorpion Squad member turned around as he felt that something was off. He only saw a big and bloody mouth looming very rapidly. Then, he was swallowed.

His blood-curdling screams fell silent as he was dragged down into the lake. Other than the blood gurgling upward, there was nothing left of the person.

“Fuck!” Dozer was horrified. His arms and legs started moving faster like a motor. He didn’t stop swimming as he was trying his best to get to the shore. On land, he still had a fighting chance even if there was a monster.

However, in the water, his arms and legs were tied. He wasn’t able to do much, especially when confronted with this man-eating mutant piranha. He wouldn’t stand a chance against it.

“Fuck! How dare you eat my men! I’ll kill you!” Standing by the shore, Garrett was pissed as he took out an automatic rifle and aimed it behind Dozer.

If the mutant piranha showed itself again, he’d make sure the mutant piranha would be riddled with bullets.

“Thump!” After a short while, water started splashing around as the mutant piranha resurfaced from the depths of the lake. It was going after Dozer with an open mouth.

“Go to hell!” Garrett opened fire with gritted teeth. The shooting continued for a while as bullets poured out like torrential rain, with the majority hitting the mutant piranha.

However, what Garrett didn’t expect was that the bullets didn’t pierce through the scales. Instead, they seemed to have struck against iron armor, producing a crisp sound of metal collision.

At the same time, sparks scattered in all directions. His attack was futile.

“What?” Garrett was stunned to see that. He really hadn’t expected the scales of the mutant piranha to be this strong. He couldn’t even puncture it with bullets. It was too scary!

“Captain! Save me!” Dozer shouted for help reluctantly. The mutant piranha showed no mercy as it opened its bloody mouth and went after Dozer violently.

“You freak! Get away from me!” Dozer shouted angrily as he wielded the knife from his waist and stabbed straight at the mutant piranha’s head with all his might.

There was a loud and sharp noise as the blade collided with the scales of the mutant piranha. Sparks flew but the mutant piranha was unharmed.

The mutant piranha, taking advantage of the momentum from his lunge, swallowed Dozer in one swift movement.

Dozer was a tall and burly man. He was bigger than the average person. The mutant piranha didn’t swallow him all at once, instead, Dozer’s legs were left hanging outside.

Everyone could hear Dozer’s painful screams coming from the gaps between the mutant piranha’s sharp teeth. His screams were awful and everyone could hear his fear.

The mutant piranha lifted its head and finally swallowed Dozer whole with a flip of its head. After swallowing three people, the mutant piranha didn’t leave immediately.

Instead, it silently lingered about ten yards from the shore. It was as if it was waiting for its next prey around the shore. Everyone was shocked beyond words at this point.

The excitement and surprise earlier had completely dissipated and in its place was fear and reluctance. Three skilled martial artists were eaten by a mutant piranha easily.

It was just downright terrifying!

“Ah!” Having lost three of his team members to the mutant piranha, Garrett was enraged and kept firing shots at the lake to vent his anger.

The bullets rained down on the lake and created big splashes. Nevertheless, it was useless.

“Damn! It was a good thing that we didn’t jump right in. If not, we’d be dead now!”

“Right? I thought the lake was quite safe. I had no idea there’d be a monster like that in it.”

“I think that the trio that died were quite unlucky. They were actually eaten alive and there are no remains of them. It makes my skin crawl just thinking about it!”

Everyone started whispering as they looked at the fading bloody trail on the lake. They felt relieved and scared at the same time.

“Look! What’s that?” A man suddenly pointed to the center of the lake and shouted. Everyone turned to look at the direction he was pointing and was stunned to see what was before them. They were terrified.

Fins as huge as ships started appearing one by one from the depths of the lake. Initially, there were only three to five fins.

Soon, there were around thirty to fifty fins. Slowly, the fins multiplied and it became three to five hundred of them. Finally, hundreds and thousands of fins crowded the surface of the lake!

These mutant piranhas seemed to have detected the scent of blood, awakening one by one and were gathering rapidly.

Within a few short minutes, the misty lake was filled with mutant piranhas.  The sheer amount of mutant piranhas left those present at a loss for words.

It was already difficult to defeat one mutant piranha. What horrors would befall them if the mutant piranhas amounted to the thousands?

If all of them had gone into the lake earlier, they would already have been eaten by these mutant piranhas.

Summary An Understated Dominance by Marina Vittori

Dahlia Nicholson and Dustin Rhys had been married for three years. After Dahlia’s meteoric rise to success, she abandons the useless dead weight that’s Dustin, proposing divorce. Unbeknownst to her, everything she had ever achieved was only because of him.

Chapter 1 “Dustin, here is the divorce agreement prepared by Ms. Nicholson. All you need to do is sign them.” In the president’s office of the Quine Group, the secretary, Lyra Blaine, placed a piece of A4 paper on the table. A man sat opposite her, dressed in plain clothing. “Divorce? What do you mean?” Dustin Rhys was taken aback. “Do you not understand what I’m saying? Your marriage with Ms. Nicholson is over. You’re not even on the same level anymore. Your existence is nothing but a smear on the president’s reputation!” Lyra pulled no punches as she spoke. “A smear on her reputation?” Dustin frowned. “Is that how she thinks of me?” Back when they first got married, the Nicholson family was in ruinous debt. He was the one who helped them when they were at their lowest point. Now that they were rich, Dahlia Nicholson was ready to just kick him out. “Something like that.” Lyra jerked her chin toward the magazine on the table. A photo of a beautiful woman was printed on the front page. “Look at the headline on this magazine, Dustin. Ms. Nicholson’s net worth has hit one billion in the course of just three years, a feat no short of a miracle. She’s now the most desired woman in Swinton! With all this, she’s destined for greatness. But you, you’re just a regular joe. You don’t deserve her at all. I hope that you’ll see some sense and do the right thing.” When Dustin remained silent, Lyra frowned. “I know you’re not happy with this, but this is reality,” she continued. “You might have helped Ms. Nicholson when she was in trouble, but she has repaid you for everything you’ve done for her over the last three years. In fact, you’re the one who owes her now!” “Is our marriage just a business deal to her, then?” Dustin took a deep breath to suppress the emotions within. “If she wants to divorce me, let her speak to me herself.” “Ms. Nicholson is very busy. She doesn’t need to trouble herself with such trifling matters.” “Trifling matters?” Dustin was stunned. Then he laughed bitterly. “Is that so? Is divorce a trifling matter to her? She can’t even find the time to speak to me. Truly, she’s that unattainable now!” “Dustin, don’t delay this any longer.” Lyra pushed the divorce agreement toward him again. “Just sign here and you’ll get a car and a house as compensation. On top of that, you’ll also get eight million dollars. This is more than what you’ll be able to earn in your lifetime!” “Eight million dollars is a lot, but…I don’t need it. I will sign the divorce papers if she comes personally. Otherwise, I won’t sign anything,” Duston said coldly. “Don’t go too far, Dustin!” Lyra slammed her hand on the table. “Don’t say I didn’t warn you. With all her power and resources, Ms. Nicholson can divorce you easily. It’s only because she appreciates her past relationship with you that she’s allowing you to keep your dignity intact. Don’t provoke her!” “My dignity?” Dustin was a little amused by that. She didn’t even want to speak to him directly to divorce him. What kind of dignity was that? Moreover, if she really did appreciate their relationship, then why was she threatening him now?
