An Understated Dominance Chapter 1423 by Marina Vittori

Eleanor’s cruel expression gave Ezra the chills. He thought that she might hesitate. He never thought that she would want Dustin to experience excruciating pain from the beginning.

After all, Dustin did help her once. Wasn’t that too cruel?

When Ezra thought of what he had done before, he was a little frightened. It was lucky that he still had the support of the Swanson family.

If his fate was in the hands of this crazy woman, he knew he’d end up with a horrible ending.

“Ezra, is there a problem?” Eleanor looked at him again with an innocent smile. She looked completely different from the cruel and vengeful person a few moments ago.

“No, no problem at all!” Ezra laughed. This guy has it coming. He actually had the guts to upset my girl. He must pay for it!”

“I knew it! You love me most!” Eleanor smiled sweetly. Then, she pointed at the green wooden container and said, “Sir Crane, we’ll use the venomous thing in this. We must teach this goon a good lesson.”

“You’ve paid for this service. Your wish is my command.” Without saying another word, Theodore nodded in agreement.

They saw him cut out a corner of Dustin’s shirt and dripped a few drops of fresh blood on it before chucking it into the green container.

Theodore then started chanting softly and acting in a secretive manner. After the charade, he suddenly lifted the green cloth and called out firmly, “Go!”

At the moment when the green cloth was lifted, a venomous black insect escaped and flew out the door very quickly.

“Alright, that’s it. We’ll know the results in an hour.” Theodore folded his sleeves and sat down again as he started enjoying the light snack prepared.

“Thank you for your hard work, Sir Crane.” Ezra smiled. With a wave of his hand, he ordered, “Bring in the wine!”

Soon, a sumptuous feast was served. An ornate wooden box was also placed on the table. When it was opened, Theodore saw that it was filled with gold bars.

“Sir Crane, please accept my small token of appreciation.” Ezra nudged the wooden box filled with gold bars forward.

“You’re most welcome. It’s my honor to have been of service.”

Theodore flashed a rare smile and graciously accepted the gold bars. Compared to cold, hard cash, he preferred shiny and glittering objects.

“Sir Crane, let me give you a toast. Here’s to more successful collaborations between us.” Ezra poured three glasses of wine for each of them. They drank every last drop after clinking glasses.

Very soon, the conversation started flowing, and they began to relax as they drank more wine. Ezra was very interested in the occult, so he asked questions to learn more about it.

As he was just paid handsomely with gold bars, Theodore was more than happy to divulge his knowledge.

After finding out more about the occult, Ezra found out that Theodore was from the Mystic Arts Order. Occultism was actually just witchcraft. The only difference was that one sounded better than the other.

Ezra was engaged in an interesting conversation with Theodore. Eleanor was a little annoyed sitting beside them because she felt neglected. After all, she wasn’t interested in their topic of conversation.

After the sumptuous feast, Eleanor asked impatiently, “Sir Crane, didn’t you say we would have results within an hour? It’s already been an hour. Why haven’t we heard anything? Did the insect you released fail?”

“Hmm?” Theodore stifled his smile when he heard that. “Why? Don’t you trust my abilities?”

“I’m just curious. I’m afraid that there could have been a mishap on its way.” Eleanor’s brow furrowed slightly.

“What mishaps could there be? My venomous insect has been bred especially for this purpose. It’s been trained well. There’s never been any mistakes. It could locate its targeted prey anywhere in the world.” Theodore was very confident.

“If that’s the case, why hasn’t there been any news till now? How do you know if it worked?” Eleanor asked again,

Summary An Understated Dominance by Marina Vittori

Dahlia Nicholson and Dustin Rhys had been married for three years. After Dahlia’s meteoric rise to success, she abandons the useless dead weight that’s Dustin, proposing divorce. Unbeknownst to her, everything she had ever achieved was only because of him.

Chapter 1 “Dustin, here is the divorce agreement prepared by Ms. Nicholson. All you need to do is sign them.” In the president’s office of the Quine Group, the secretary, Lyra Blaine, placed a piece of A4 paper on the table. A man sat opposite her, dressed in plain clothing. “Divorce? What do you mean?” Dustin Rhys was taken aback. “Do you not understand what I’m saying? Your marriage with Ms. Nicholson is over. You’re not even on the same level anymore. Your existence is nothing but a smear on the president’s reputation!” Lyra pulled no punches as she spoke. “A smear on her reputation?” Dustin frowned. “Is that how she thinks of me?” Back when they first got married, the Nicholson family was in ruinous debt. He was the one who helped them when they were at their lowest point. Now that they were rich, Dahlia Nicholson was ready to just kick him out. “Something like that.” Lyra jerked her chin toward the magazine on the table. A photo of a beautiful woman was printed on the front page. “Look at the headline on this magazine, Dustin. Ms. Nicholson’s net worth has hit one billion in the course of just three years, a feat no short of a miracle. She’s now the most desired woman in Swinton! With all this, she’s destined for greatness. But you, you’re just a regular joe. You don’t deserve her at all. I hope that you’ll see some sense and do the right thing.” When Dustin remained silent, Lyra frowned. “I know you’re not happy with this, but this is reality,” she continued. “You might have helped Ms. Nicholson when she was in trouble, but she has repaid you for everything you’ve done for her over the last three years. In fact, you’re the one who owes her now!” “Is our marriage just a business deal to her, then?” Dustin took a deep breath to suppress the emotions within. “If she wants to divorce me, let her speak to me herself.” “Ms. Nicholson is very busy. She doesn’t need to trouble herself with such trifling matters.” “Trifling matters?” Dustin was stunned. Then he laughed bitterly. “Is that so? Is divorce a trifling matter to her? She can’t even find the time to speak to me. Truly, she’s that unattainable now!” “Dustin, don’t delay this any longer.” Lyra pushed the divorce agreement toward him again. “Just sign here and you’ll get a car and a house as compensation. On top of that, you’ll also get eight million dollars. This is more than what you’ll be able to earn in your lifetime!” “Eight million dollars is a lot, but…I don’t need it. I will sign the divorce papers if she comes personally. Otherwise, I won’t sign anything,” Duston said coldly. “Don’t go too far, Dustin!” Lyra slammed her hand on the table. “Don’t say I didn’t warn you. With all her power and resources, Ms. Nicholson can divorce you easily. It’s only because she appreciates her past relationship with you that she’s allowing you to keep your dignity intact. Don’t provoke her!” “My dignity?” Dustin was a little amused by that. She didn’t even want to speak to him directly to divorce him. What kind of dignity was that? Moreover, if she really did appreciate their relationship, then why was she threatening him now?
