An Understated Dominance Chapter 1397 by Marina Vittori

“Dustin, you shouldn’t have acted impulsively earlier.

“I’m afraid it’ll be difficult for you to remain in South City after provoking both the Swanson and Welch families.” Brooke expressed his concerns with a soft sigh.

“Dr. Busch, don’t worry. I have someone backing me. It won’t be easy for them to mess with me,” Dustin smiled faintly.

“Backing? From who?” Brooke perked up immediately. He wondered where Dustin got the courage to challenge powerful and influential families. It turned out that he had someone behind him.

It made sense when he thought about it carefully. How could he have acted the way he did without support?

“That’s a secret for now. You’ll find out when the time comes,” Dustin teased. He never took the Swansons or Welchs seriously. His intention was just to avoid any unnecessary attention and keep his identity concealed.

He wanted to avoid catching the attention of certain forces and preferred maintaining a low profile whenever possible.

After a strenuous rescue effort, the massive fire at Harmony Healers was finally extinguished. However, the once majestic and solemn building had turned into a run-down building.

Nothing remained but cracked walls, debris, and remnants of the fire’s destruction. The damage was so severe that it would need to be demolished and completely reconstructed.

The entire process would not only be expensive, but it would also be time- consuming and labor-intensive.

“Ezra Swanson is such an asshole!”

Brooke couldn’t hold back his tears as he stared at the ruin that was once Harmony Healers.

“Since things have already ended up this way, I hope you can keep your head up. I will do my best to help you rebuild Harmony Healers,” Dustin consoled.

“Rebuild?” Brooke shook his head. It looked like he had aged a few years.

“The Swansons and the Welchs already target Harmony Healers. Even if I rebuild it, they can always set it on fire again. I’m tired of constantly going against them.”

“Dr. Busch, if you trust me, please sell Harmony Healers to me. I promise I will have Harmony Healers regain its former glory,” Dustin said earnestly.

Medical establishments like Harmony Healers, which served to treat the people, were national treasures that should not be allowed to fade away.

Traditional medicine was already on the decline, with fewer and fewer practitioners. That was why every clinic had to be preserved.

“Dustin, your words bring me immense comfort,” Brooke wiped away his tears and smiled. “To be honest, I’ve been searching for a suitable successor. Your character and medical skills have always impressed me. You are undoubtedly the best choice.

“Now, I’ve decided to pass Harmony Healers to you as a gift.”

“A gift?” Dustin was taken aback. “Dr. Busch, that won’t do. Harmony Healers is extremely valuable and represents a lifetime of your hard work. I can’t just accept it for free!”

“Dustin, I don’t need money. I just wish for Harmony Healers to continue flourishing,”

Brooke continued sincerely, “I’m getting older and don’t have much time left. If you can inherit my legacy, it will fulfill one of my long-cherished wishes.

“Compared to the legacy of our ancestors, material wealth is not even worth mentioning.” If someone else were to buy it from him, it would be priceless. But for Dustin, he would give it away for free.

That was the only way to ensure traditional medicine knowledge would be passed down to the next generation.

“Dr. Busch, your integrity and principles are truly admirable,” Dustin expressed his profound respect for Brooke. He stated, “Since you have placed your trust in me, I will do everything in my power to uphold and expand the legacy of Harmony Healers!”

“This is great!” Brooke smiled with relief. Tears streamed down his face again, but this time, it was tears of happiness. Harmony Healers had finally found a worthy successor!

Dustin didn’t stay for long. After helping Brooke into the car, he returned to his own villa. Since Harmony Healers was destroyed, Cinna and Brooke were left without a place to stay.

Fortunately, Dustin had them settled in a villa he had newly purchased. That way, he could take care of them better and make sure they were safe.

After completing the arrangements, Dustin took out his phone and dialed a number. As soon as the call connected, he heard a charming voice on the other side,” Hello, handsome, do you miss me already?

“Are you going to ask me out on a date? Let me warn you: I’m bad at holding my liquor. I get drunk with just one drink.”

Summary An Understated Dominance by Marina Vittori

Dahlia Nicholson and Dustin Rhys had been married for three years. After Dahlia’s meteoric rise to success, she abandons the useless dead weight that’s Dustin, proposing divorce. Unbeknownst to her, everything she had ever achieved was only because of him.

Chapter 1 “Dustin, here is the divorce agreement prepared by Ms. Nicholson. All you need to do is sign them.” In the president’s office of the Quine Group, the secretary, Lyra Blaine, placed a piece of A4 paper on the table. A man sat opposite her, dressed in plain clothing. “Divorce? What do you mean?” Dustin Rhys was taken aback. “Do you not understand what I’m saying? Your marriage with Ms. Nicholson is over. You’re not even on the same level anymore. Your existence is nothing but a smear on the president’s reputation!” Lyra pulled no punches as she spoke. “A smear on her reputation?” Dustin frowned. “Is that how she thinks of me?” Back when they first got married, the Nicholson family was in ruinous debt. He was the one who helped them when they were at their lowest point. Now that they were rich, Dahlia Nicholson was ready to just kick him out. “Something like that.” Lyra jerked her chin toward the magazine on the table. A photo of a beautiful woman was printed on the front page. “Look at the headline on this magazine, Dustin. Ms. Nicholson’s net worth has hit one billion in the course of just three years, a feat no short of a miracle. She’s now the most desired woman in Swinton! With all this, she’s destined for greatness. But you, you’re just a regular joe. You don’t deserve her at all. I hope that you’ll see some sense and do the right thing.” When Dustin remained silent, Lyra frowned. “I know you’re not happy with this, but this is reality,” she continued. “You might have helped Ms. Nicholson when she was in trouble, but she has repaid you for everything you’ve done for her over the last three years. In fact, you’re the one who owes her now!” “Is our marriage just a business deal to her, then?” Dustin took a deep breath to suppress the emotions within. “If she wants to divorce me, let her speak to me herself.” “Ms. Nicholson is very busy. She doesn’t need to trouble herself with such trifling matters.” “Trifling matters?” Dustin was stunned. Then he laughed bitterly. “Is that so? Is divorce a trifling matter to her? She can’t even find the time to speak to me. Truly, she’s that unattainable now!” “Dustin, don’t delay this any longer.” Lyra pushed the divorce agreement toward him again. “Just sign here and you’ll get a car and a house as compensation. On top of that, you’ll also get eight million dollars. This is more than what you’ll be able to earn in your lifetime!” “Eight million dollars is a lot, but…I don’t need it. I will sign the divorce papers if she comes personally. Otherwise, I won’t sign anything,” Duston said coldly. “Don’t go too far, Dustin!” Lyra slammed her hand on the table. “Don’t say I didn’t warn you. With all her power and resources, Ms. Nicholson can divorce you easily. It’s only because she appreciates her past relationship with you that she’s allowing you to keep your dignity intact. Don’t provoke her!” “My dignity?” Dustin was a little amused by that. She didn’t even want to speak to him directly to divorce him. What kind of dignity was that? Moreover, if she really did appreciate their relationship, then why was she threatening him now?
