An Understated Dominance by Marina Vittori Chapter 1280

“This miracle doctor has hit the big time. He actually saved Ms. Welch. How lucky!” The onlookers were envious to see the million dollars check. That amount of money was enough for them to retire.

“Fuck!” Caldwell gritted his teeth and clenched his fists. This windfall of money should have been his. Who would have thought Dustin would take it away from him? This swindler ruined his shot at fame and riches.

“Thanks.” Dustin accepted the check readily. He may not have saved Eleanor for money, but he wouldn’t refuse it since they offered it.

“Doctor Rhys, I still have other matters to attend to. See you soon!

“Come to me for help if you ever end up in a ditch.” Eleanor left quickly after saying that. She had just been rescued from the lake, and she looked terrible. She needed to freshen up.

“Hey!” Suddenly, the head bodyguard turned to Caldwell with a scowl. He said, “Didn’t you say you’d eat the vomit if Doctor Rhys could save Ms. Welch in three jabs? Well, you can eat now!”

“What?” Caldwell was dumbfounded. He stood rooted to the ground and stared at the vomit. Eleanor puked her guts out, and even a dead fish was in the sticky mess. How would he ever stomach it?

“Eat now!” The head bodyguard glared at him with murderous intent. The bodyguards behind him slowly closed in with a deadly glare; they were ready to pounce. Should Caldwell object, they would give him a good beating.

“Fine… I’ll eat it…” Caldwell had no choice. With a troubled expression, he could only gulp down the vomit on the ground. Caldwell licked the last drop off the ground. He was so disgusted that he gagged a few times but forced it down. They would force it down his throat anyway if he puked it out.

“Hmph! Consider yourself lucky because Doctor Rhys saved you. “If not, I would have chopped you into pieces!” The head bodyguard kicked Caldwell before leaving with his team. Harmony Healers got lucky this time.

“Miracle doctor! You’re so amazing! You actually revived the dead? That was so cool!”

“Young man, by any chance, are you the real disciple of Dr. Busch? If not, how are you so well-versed in medicine?”

“That’s right! That must be it. This miracle doctor must be the real successor of Dr. Busch. The other guy must be a fake!”

When the bodyguards left, the onlookers immediately surrounded Dustin and began showering him with enthusiastic praises. As for Caldwell, he was cast aside with cold glances.

“Fuck!” Caldwell gritted his teeth with hatred. He was rightfully the successor of Brooke Busch. Why was that guy more popular than he was?

“Miracle doctor, you’re so skilled. How about you treat my sickness? My back is hurting badly.”

“Hey, old woman, wait your turn! I was obviously here first.”

“My illness is more serious. Could you please let me see him first?”

“I have a heart issue and can’t take any excitement. According to what you say, I would be lying on the ground now.”

The onlookers talked incessantly as they all requested Dustin to treat their sickness. They saw what he did for Eleanor and were confident in his skills.

“Well…” Dustin felt a headache coming as he looked at the overzealous onlookers. He didn’t think he would get into so much trouble for saving a person.

“What happened?” Suddenly, an old man in a long, flowing robe with a white beard and hair walked through the door.

Even though he was advanced in years, he was tall, sturdy, and had spirited eyes. He looked high and mighty and may come off as unfriendly. This old man was the chief doctor of Harmony Healers, Brooke Busch!

Summary An Understated Dominance by Marina Vittori

Dahlia Nicholson and Dustin Rhys had been married for three years. After Dahlia’s meteoric rise to success, she abandons the useless dead weight that’s Dustin, proposing divorce. Unbeknownst to her, everything she had ever achieved was only because of him.

Chapter 1 “Dustin, here is the divorce agreement prepared by Ms. Nicholson. All you need to do is sign them.” In the president’s office of the Quine Group, the secretary, Lyra Blaine, placed a piece of A4 paper on the table. A man sat opposite her, dressed in plain clothing. “Divorce? What do you mean?” Dustin Rhys was taken aback. “Do you not understand what I’m saying? Your marriage with Ms. Nicholson is over. You’re not even on the same level anymore. Your existence is nothing but a smear on the president’s reputation!” Lyra pulled no punches as she spoke. “A smear on her reputation?” Dustin frowned. “Is that how she thinks of me?” Back when they first got married, the Nicholson family was in ruinous debt. He was the one who helped them when they were at their lowest point. Now that they were rich, Dahlia Nicholson was ready to just kick him out. “Something like that.” Lyra jerked her chin toward the magazine on the table. A photo of a beautiful woman was printed on the front page. “Look at the headline on this magazine, Dustin. Ms. Nicholson’s net worth has hit one billion in the course of just three years, a feat no short of a miracle. She’s now the most desired woman in Swinton! With all this, she’s destined for greatness. But you, you’re just a regular joe. You don’t deserve her at all. I hope that you’ll see some sense and do the right thing.” When Dustin remained silent, Lyra frowned. “I know you’re not happy with this, but this is reality,” she continued. “You might have helped Ms. Nicholson when she was in trouble, but she has repaid you for everything you’ve done for her over the last three years. In fact, you’re the one who owes her now!” “Is our marriage just a business deal to her, then?” Dustin took a deep breath to suppress the emotions within. “If she wants to divorce me, let her speak to me herself.” “Ms. Nicholson is very busy. She doesn’t need to trouble herself with such trifling matters.” “Trifling matters?” Dustin was stunned. Then he laughed bitterly. “Is that so? Is divorce a trifling matter to her? She can’t even find the time to speak to me. Truly, she’s that unattainable now!” “Dustin, don’t delay this any longer.” Lyra pushed the divorce agreement toward him again. “Just sign here and you’ll get a car and a house as compensation. On top of that, you’ll also get eight million dollars. This is more than what you’ll be able to earn in your lifetime!” “Eight million dollars is a lot, but…I don’t need it. I will sign the divorce papers if she comes personally. Otherwise, I won’t sign anything,” Duston said coldly. “Don’t go too far, Dustin!” Lyra slammed her hand on the table. “Don’t say I didn’t warn you. With all her power and resources, Ms. Nicholson can divorce you easily. It’s only because she appreciates her past relationship with you that she’s allowing you to keep your dignity intact. Don’t provoke her!” “My dignity?” Dustin was a little amused by that. She didn’t even want to speak to him directly to divorce him. What kind of dignity was that? Moreover, if she really did appreciate their relationship, then why was she threatening him now?
