An Understated Dominance by Marina Vittori Chapter 1213

“Hey kid, how was it? I came at just the right time, didn’t I?” On the car ride back, the Drunken Maniac crossed his legs leisurely while chugging on a bottle of alcohol.

“They couldn’t have done anything to me even if you hadn’t come.” Dustin shrugged. “Oh, come on. Quit acting strong.” The Drunken Maniac gave him a quick once over before he pursed his lips.

“You used the secret Rhys technique to forcibly boost your cultivation. Now that the time is up, there’s bound to be a recoil. Had I not shown up in time, you’d probably have died here today.”

Though the secret Rhys technique allowed one to forcibly boost their cultivation, there was a huge price to pay for it.

It could deplete one’s vitality or greatly weaken the person’s body. If the person who used it was captured by his foes in his weakest state, it was highly likely that he might die.

“Pretty observant, old man.”

Dustin chuckled. Seeing that there was no point hiding things any longer, he pulled a silver needle out of the back of his head. Instantly, he looked like a deflated balloon, completely drained of all the energy that had held him up.

What had once been a powerful aura from him, now completely dissipated, leaving him frail and worn out. Dustin panted in exhaustion. Beads of sweat formed on his forehead. His face was drained of color. His eyes were bloodshot, and his limbs were sore and powerless. Extreme fatigue took over him.

As the Drunken Maniac had said, the secret Rhys technique could forcibly heighten one’s powers, but it came with extreme adverse reactions. Dustin would never have used it if it had not been to kill Ronald.

“Here, have some liquor to boost your strength.”

The Drunken Maniac passed the bottle of alcohol that he held in his hands to Dustin. Dustin took it and gulped a mouthful of its contents.

As the liquor slid down his throat, he felt a slight burning sensation. And along with the burning sensation, he felt his weakened body gain some nourishment from it. Clearly, there were some other components in the alcohol.

“Hey, kid, I need to tell you something. The Drunken Maniac yawned as he settled back into the seat. “I have an old friend who’s ran into some trouble. I’ll need to leave for some time.”

“Leave? Where to?” Dustin was perplexed.

“Oakvale.” That was all the Drunken Maniac said.

“Oakvale?” Dustin’s brow creased slightly. “With your sensitive identity, I’m afraid you might run into complications there.”

Though what happened ten years ago had already subsided, his enemies from back then were still around. If he let slip his identity, there was no doubt they’d be out to get him.

“I’m Dobson Manier. When have I ever been afraid of trouble? You underestimate me,” he said airily,

“When will you be leaving?” Dustin asked.

“I’d rather be early than be late. So I’ll leave today,” the Drunken Maniac answered.

“So rushed?” Dustin frowned.

“A life is at stake. I cannot afford to dawdle.”

The Drunken Maniac stretched lazily. Then, thinking of something, he pulled out a bottle of pills and handed it to Dustin.

“It’s your birthday tomorrow. Here. This is my precious gift for you.”

“Oh? Since when were you so generous? Dustin was surprised by the act. “Who knows when I’ll be back again once I leave? I’ve got to at least leave you with something,” the Drunken Maniac said.

“What’s in there?” Dustin asked curiously. Half of his medical skills came from the Drunken Maniac, while the other half came from his research on a wide range of ancient manuscripts.

“This is called Vigoritum. It’s my very own secret formula. It can boost your abilities in a certain aspect.

“It serves to revive a man’s vigor, and its effects are outstanding! There is none other like it in the world!” the Drunken Maniac boasted proudly.

“No, but why are you giving me this?” Dustin was taken aback. He had thought that they were some rare medicinal pills. But it turned out that they were aphrodisiacs!

“Well, you’ve been married for a couple of years now, and I still don’t see a baby coming along. You must be having some problems in that aspect. I figured these would serve you well,” the Drunken Maniac said matter-of-factly.

Summary An Understated Dominance by Marina Vittori

Dahlia Nicholson and Dustin Rhys had been married for three years. After Dahlia’s meteoric rise to success, she abandons the useless dead weight that’s Dustin, proposing divorce. Unbeknownst to her, everything she had ever achieved was only because of him.

Chapter 1 “Dustin, here is the divorce agreement prepared by Ms. Nicholson. All you need to do is sign them.” In the president’s office of the Quine Group, the secretary, Lyra Blaine, placed a piece of A4 paper on the table. A man sat opposite her, dressed in plain clothing. “Divorce? What do you mean?” Dustin Rhys was taken aback. “Do you not understand what I’m saying? Your marriage with Ms. Nicholson is over. You’re not even on the same level anymore. Your existence is nothing but a smear on the president’s reputation!” Lyra pulled no punches as she spoke. “A smear on her reputation?” Dustin frowned. “Is that how she thinks of me?” Back when they first got married, the Nicholson family was in ruinous debt. He was the one who helped them when they were at their lowest point. Now that they were rich, Dahlia Nicholson was ready to just kick him out. “Something like that.” Lyra jerked her chin toward the magazine on the table. A photo of a beautiful woman was printed on the front page. “Look at the headline on this magazine, Dustin. Ms. Nicholson’s net worth has hit one billion in the course of just three years, a feat no short of a miracle. She’s now the most desired woman in Swinton! With all this, she’s destined for greatness. But you, you’re just a regular joe. You don’t deserve her at all. I hope that you’ll see some sense and do the right thing.” When Dustin remained silent, Lyra frowned. “I know you’re not happy with this, but this is reality,” she continued. “You might have helped Ms. Nicholson when she was in trouble, but she has repaid you for everything you’ve done for her over the last three years. In fact, you’re the one who owes her now!” “Is our marriage just a business deal to her, then?” Dustin took a deep breath to suppress the emotions within. “If she wants to divorce me, let her speak to me herself.” “Ms. Nicholson is very busy. She doesn’t need to trouble herself with such trifling matters.” “Trifling matters?” Dustin was stunned. Then he laughed bitterly. “Is that so? Is divorce a trifling matter to her? She can’t even find the time to speak to me. Truly, she’s that unattainable now!” “Dustin, don’t delay this any longer.” Lyra pushed the divorce agreement toward him again. “Just sign here and you’ll get a car and a house as compensation. On top of that, you’ll also get eight million dollars. This is more than what you’ll be able to earn in your lifetime!” “Eight million dollars is a lot, but…I don’t need it. I will sign the divorce papers if she comes personally. Otherwise, I won’t sign anything,” Duston said coldly. “Don’t go too far, Dustin!” Lyra slammed her hand on the table. “Don’t say I didn’t warn you. With all her power and resources, Ms. Nicholson can divorce you easily. It’s only because she appreciates her past relationship with you that she’s allowing you to keep your dignity intact. Don’t provoke her!” “My dignity?” Dustin was a little amused by that. She didn’t even want to speak to him directly to divorce him. What kind of dignity was that? Moreover, if she really did appreciate their relationship, then why was she threatening him now?
