An Understated Dominance by Marina Vittori Chapter 1148

“Say that again?” Scarlet’s expression was frosty. She pointed the tip of her sword against Natasha’s throat. If she just pushed forward an inch more, would easily end up dead. Natasha “Hmm?”

Natasha frowned at the sight of the blade against her throat. She hadn’t expected Scarlet to have such a bad temper and draw her sword without a word.

She was also certain that Scarlet was serious. If she provoked her further, she would be as good as dead. It seemed like she had met her match. This woman before her was harder to deal with than Dahlia.

“Stop it!” Amid their deadlock, Dustin suddenly rushed in.

“Dustin, you’re here!” Scarlet immediately sheathed her sword. Her previous cold demeanor was replaced by a smile.

“Scarlet, what were you doing earlier?” Dustin frowned, evidently displeased. “Nothing, I was just joking around with Ms. Harmon,” Scarlet said with a smile.

“Joking around?”

Dustin turned to Natasha and asked softly, “Are you hurt?” “I’m fine. I was bored earlier and asked to see Ms. Spanner’s sword. She was just handing it to me.” Natasha smiled.

Her words surprised Scarlet. She thought Natasha would rat her out. She didn’t expect her to cover up for her instead.

“Thankfully, you’re fine. Swords are dangerous. Be careful next time. I don’t want any of you getting hurt, understand?”

As he emphasized the last word, he turned his attention toward Scarlet. His gaze carried a hint of warning.

“Okay, I got it.” Scarlet lowered her head like a student getting scolded by their teacher. Anyone who witnessed that scene would have been astonished. Who would dare to lecture the Scarlet Warrior in the whole of Dragonmarsh?

“Dustin, come with me for a moment.” 11 Natasha plastered on a professional smile before walking out of the guest lounge.

Dustin felt inexplicably uneasy. Still, he knew he had to confront the situation. He followed her to a secluded area. where Natasha stopped. She turned around, her smile even brighter.

Dustin’s uneasiness deepened. Her smile seemed to hide a different agenda. “Ask away, Natasha. I have nothing to hide.” Dustin was somewhat hesitant..

“Don’t be so nervous. I won’t bite.” Natasha dusted off his shoulders. She said with a smile, “Why don’t you tell me who Ms. Spanner is? She doesn’t seem like an ordinary woman.’

“To be honest, Scarlet is the Oakvale Spanners’ daughter. She is also known as Dragonmarsh’s Goddess of War,” Dustin said truthfully.

“Scarlet Spanner? The Scarlet Warrior? “Natasha raised an eyebrow. “I can’t believe it’s her.” Natasha had heard of the Scarlet Warrior. She was Oakvale’s top female prodigy among the younger generation.

She was one of the most prominent figures in Dragonmarsh, regardless of status or identity. “What’s your relationship with her? Why is she looking for you?” Natasha’s curiosity grew.

She had always believed that Dustin was no ordinary man. Even so, she didn’t expect him to be connected to a prodigy like Scarlet.

“Our mothers were good friends. That’s why we’ve known each other since childhood. However, I left Oakvale ten years ago, and we’ve lost contact ever since. “It was only recently that we ran into each other,” Dustin explained in detail.

“So you really were childhood friends?” Natasha asked in jealousy, “So the arranged marriage she mentioned was true?”

“What arranged marriage? It was just a childhood promise. It was nothing serious.”

Dustin shook his head. “Ever since my mom passed away, the relationship between our families had become distant. Besides, I’ve always seen her as a sister, nothing more.”

“A sister?” Natasha said with a tinge of resentment, “But she doesn’t seem to see you as just a brother. She’s so beautiful. Are you sure you won’t fall for her?”

“No matter how beautiful she is, can she compare to you?” Dustin replied seriously. “That’s true.” Natasha was visibly delighted. “Since when did you become a smooth talker? I didn’t expect that.”

“I’m just stating facts,” Dustin said righteously. Natasha laughed. “Alright, you passed. “She beamed.

“I won’t hold Scarlet’s situation against you, but you need to be careful. That kid seems to rely on you a little too much. If you don’t handle the situation well, it might destroy her.”

Though Natasha had never met Scarlet, she had heard of her reputation. Scarlet was known as the cold and ruthless Goddess of War who killed without hesitation.

Ever since she became a prominent figure, she worked independently. She never yielded to anyone, not even the royal family.

However, Scarlet was like a well- behaved girl in front of Dustin. Not only that, she also seemed nervous and fearful. It was as if she was afraid of upsetting him.

It was the complete opposite of her usual personality. As a woman, Natasha understood that Scarlet had developed deep feelings for Dustin and had come to rely on him.

For someone as cold and detached as Scarlet, once they fell in love, they tended to become entangled and found it hard to let go. That was why Natasha was worried that if Dustin were to hurt Scarlet, she might go insane.

“Scarlet is like a sister to me. She still sees me through the lens of our childhood experiences. It would be hard to change that perspective in the short term.

“But I believe that time will eventually help her see reality,” Dustin replied without much thought. Their positions in life had changed. It was only natural for them to grow apart over time.

“I hope so.” Natasha nodded in contemplation.

“Dustin, are you done talking to her?” Just then, they heard Scarlet calling out from afar. She had walked out of the guest lounge as she had been waiting for some time and grew concerned.

“What’s wrong?” Dustin asked.

“I’m hungry,” Scarlet said as she rubbed her belly.

“Since Ms. Spanner is hungry, let’s get something to eat. It just so happens that a new restaurant has opened up in Millsburg.

“Let’s try it out together,” Natasha, suggested with a smile.

“Alright, then let’s go.” Dustin nodded.

He brought them into the car and drove them to the restaurant. Right as they left Zephyr Lodge, two MPVs followed them discreetly.

Summary An Understated Dominance by Marina Vittori

Dahlia Nicholson and Dustin Rhys had been married for three years. After Dahlia’s meteoric rise to success, she abandons the useless dead weight that’s Dustin, proposing divorce. Unbeknownst to her, everything she had ever achieved was only because of him.

Chapter 1 “Dustin, here is the divorce agreement prepared by Ms. Nicholson. All you need to do is sign them.” In the president’s office of the Quine Group, the secretary, Lyra Blaine, placed a piece of A4 paper on the table. A man sat opposite her, dressed in plain clothing. “Divorce? What do you mean?” Dustin Rhys was taken aback. “Do you not understand what I’m saying? Your marriage with Ms. Nicholson is over. You’re not even on the same level anymore. Your existence is nothing but a smear on the president’s reputation!” Lyra pulled no punches as she spoke. “A smear on her reputation?” Dustin frowned. “Is that how she thinks of me?” Back when they first got married, the Nicholson family was in ruinous debt. He was the one who helped them when they were at their lowest point. Now that they were rich, Dahlia Nicholson was ready to just kick him out. “Something like that.” Lyra jerked her chin toward the magazine on the table. A photo of a beautiful woman was printed on the front page. “Look at the headline on this magazine, Dustin. Ms. Nicholson’s net worth has hit one billion in the course of just three years, a feat no short of a miracle. She’s now the most desired woman in Swinton! With all this, she’s destined for greatness. But you, you’re just a regular joe. You don’t deserve her at all. I hope that you’ll see some sense and do the right thing.” When Dustin remained silent, Lyra frowned. “I know you’re not happy with this, but this is reality,” she continued. “You might have helped Ms. Nicholson when she was in trouble, but she has repaid you for everything you’ve done for her over the last three years. In fact, you’re the one who owes her now!” “Is our marriage just a business deal to her, then?” Dustin took a deep breath to suppress the emotions within. “If she wants to divorce me, let her speak to me herself.” “Ms. Nicholson is very busy. She doesn’t need to trouble herself with such trifling matters.” “Trifling matters?” Dustin was stunned. Then he laughed bitterly. “Is that so? Is divorce a trifling matter to her? She can’t even find the time to speak to me. Truly, she’s that unattainable now!” “Dustin, don’t delay this any longer.” Lyra pushed the divorce agreement toward him again. “Just sign here and you’ll get a car and a house as compensation. On top of that, you’ll also get eight million dollars. This is more than what you’ll be able to earn in your lifetime!” “Eight million dollars is a lot, but…I don’t need it. I will sign the divorce papers if she comes personally. Otherwise, I won’t sign anything,” Duston said coldly. “Don’t go too far, Dustin!” Lyra slammed her hand on the table. “Don’t say I didn’t warn you. With all her power and resources, Ms. Nicholson can divorce you easily. It’s only because she appreciates her past relationship with you that she’s allowing you to keep your dignity intact. Don’t provoke her!” “My dignity?” Dustin was a little amused by that. She didn’t even want to speak to him directly to divorce him. What kind of dignity was that? Moreover, if she really did appreciate their relationship, then why was she threatening him now?
