All Her Secrets Chapter 79 by Chestnut

Chapter 79 Why Not?

Audrey suddenly realized that Catherine had been refusing to respond as she was standing up for her. Audrey nodded repeatedly and said, “I’m sure. She had apologized to us, and I think that’s enough.”

“Okay, it is up to you,” Catherine said coolly and flung Branden a look. Without Branden asking, Paxton arranged for the security guards who were guarding the shop door to part.

Josh said to Catherine with gratitude, “Thank you, Miss Swann, for forgiving us. Let us know if you need our family to do anything for you. We are leaving now. Sorry to bother you today.”

With that, he pulled his wife and daughter away hastily. He seemed deeply afraid that he and his family would not be able to leave if he delayed for just one more second.

Catherine looked at their retreating backs, and a glint flashed across her eyes. It was a cutthroat world, and the weak would be eaten. Only men with power could overrule. everything.

The only way not to be bullied was to stand at the top. The Burtons and their people were gone. Audrey took Catherine’s hand and was about to leave as well.

Audrey felt quite uneasy with Branden around them, especially since he had such an imposing manner. “Kathy, shall we go to the next shop?”

Audrey seemed determined to buy some clothes today and she would not go home if her goal was not achieved. Catherine had to nod in agreement

Branden had been observing Catherine’s expression from the side. He could tell Catherine did not want to go shopping, but she held herself back and did not refuse Audrey.

He was somewhat curious about the reason.

The Catherine he knew would never force herself to do anything she did not want to.

Branden thought Catherine was indulging Audrey and not just tolerating her.

Audrey seemed to occupy an important position in Catherine’s heart.

“Catherine’s patient with Audrey, but why did she always have a poker face when talking to

me?” thought Branden.

Audrey held Catherine’s arm and was about to step out of the shop.

“Wait!” Catherine suddenly shouted to stop her.

Audrey stopped walking and looked at Catherine in confusion, wondering what Catherine wanted to do.

Catherine rested her eyes on the service assistant, and the latter flinched under her icy gaze.

The service assistant did not know what Catherine was up to. If Catherine wanted to get event with her, she would be doomed.

She stepped forward, trembling as she went, and asked carefully, “Miss Swann, is there anything I can do for you?”

“There is,” said Catherine muffledly. She gazed at the white dress and ordered, “I want it. You may wrap it now.”

Catherine handed the credit card to the service assistant, and Audrey automatically reached. out to stop her.

Catherine tilted her head and gave Audrey a bewildered stare. She was not sure what Audrey had wanted to do.

Seeing the frown on Catherine, Audrey pulled her to the side. She did not want to embarrass Catherine before Branden, so she muttered in a low voice. “Kathy, that dress is too costly. We

don’t need to beat the Burtons now. You don’t have to buy it.”

Her words calmed Catherine down, and there was a hint of a smile in her eyes.

Catherine whispered, “It’s okay. You like it, so I want you to have it.” Her tone was still chilly, but the sternness in her voice was much lesser than before.

Audrey was touched when she heard Catherine’s answer. She tightened her lips and stared at her sister. She had never heard such words from her boyfriend, but she heard it from

Catherine.

Audrey was grateful to have a wonderful sister who cared so much about her.

Catherine faced the service assistant and gave her the card again, but the latter refused to take it. She handed the dress that was wrapped up to Catherine in reverence. “Miss Swann, Mr. Duncan said he would pay all your bills today.”

Then, the service assistant handed several shopping bags to Audrey and said, “And Miss Swann, these are the bags that just arrived in our shop. I’ve packed them for you.”

Audrey’s eyes widened in disbelief. Her lips could not help but twitch in surprise. “Did Mr. Duncan pay for all of these as well?” she asked.

The service assistant gave her a nod. Paxton, who was standing next to them, added without any expression. “Miss Audrey Swann, Mr. Duncan will pay for everything you and Miss Catherine Swann buy in this shopping mall.”

Audrey was stunned.

It was the largest shopping mall in Casier, and only customers with money and power could afford to shop there.

It would be awesome if Branden did as he promised and paid for everything for them.

Branden was indeed a good catch!

Although Audrey was thrilled internally, she dared not show it on her face or take the bags. She turned her head to Catherine, waiting for Catherine’s response.

Catherine’s

eyes fell upon the handsome man near her, waiting for him to explain himself.

Branden was staring at Catherine, so he noticed Catherine’s move when she tilted her head.

Branden eyed Catherine up and down slowly. His dark eyes were unruly and charming. His thin lips raised and formed a faint smile.

“Kathy, you are my future wife, and this shopping mall belongs to my family. It’s only reasonable that I pay for all things you want.”

Catherine did not care much about the money, as it was, at most, several million dollars.

After all, the projects in cooperation with the Duncan Corporation were worth tens of billions of dollars. The daily profits churned out by the projects alone were enough to pay the bills.

What she needed was merely a reason. She would not take anything that was given to her without a reason.

Branden’s explanation was quite sensible, so Catherine turned to Audrey and nodded.

Just as Catherine nodded, Audrey reached out and took the bags the service assistant handed her without hesitation.

As a fashion influencer, Audrey loved those bags. How could she not be cheerful since she could possess them effortlessly?

Audrey beamed brightly as she thanked Branden wholeheartedly.

“Thank you so much, my future brother-in-law.”

Branden was satisfied with how Audrey addressed him and nodded at her with a grin.

Both Branden and Audrey were happy, while Catherine was a little confused.

She examined Branden secretly out of the corner of her eyes and could not figure out why Branden was so pleased.

Catherine thought she had made it clear to Branden that they were just partners.

Since their engagement was fake, why was Branden delighted when Audrey greeted him as her future brother-in-law?

Audrey’s spirits rose now that she needed not to spend a penny to shop.

Out of basic politeness, Audrey invited Branden along. “We’re going to shop for a while more. Catherine doesn’t have enough clothes, and I want to get some for her. Are you coming with us, Mr. Duncan?”

Branden gave Catherine a probing look and saw that she wore her usual T-shirt and jeans. He said in a low voice, “Indeed. More clothes will be better.”

Audrey was puzzled. “What?”

Branden’s answer was unexpected.

“Sure. Why not?”

His words caught Audrey off guard. She had invited Branden to join them out of politeness and did not expect her future brother-in-law to take her words seriously.

It seemed that Branden was indeed enamored with Catherine.

Otherwise, how would Branden, who had a million things to do, have the mood to join them for shopping?

It was insignificant to Catherine whether Branden went with them or not.

In the end, Audrey was the one who walked in the front. She went into every shop and purchased lots of things.

Branden walked alongside Catherine, following Audrey in silence.

Catherine stuck her hands in her pockets. She was bored after seeing how excited Audrey was.

“Shopping is quite a bore,” she complained.

Branden looked at her with approval, seemingly to tell her that great minds think alike. He suggested, “How about we go to a barbecue restaurant?

Chapter 249: Purpose Over Profit

Moana The months in between Michael going to prison and Daisy’s birth were a whirlwind of emotions and unexpected turns. After the incident with Michael, where he was sentenced to prison for his attempt on my life, my world took another astonishing twist. The news outlets revealed a shocking revelation: Moana, the seemingly ordinary girl who was raised in an orphanage, was, in fact, the legendary Golden Wolf. I never imagined my life could become so entangled in a web of fame and attention. Suddenly, everyone wanted a piece of me. All sorts of brands and non-governmental organizations bombarded me with invitations and tempting monetary offers. It was overwhelming, to say the least. My inbox was flooded with messages from high-profile companies and influential figures, all hoping to capitalize on my newfound fame. It felt like the world had changed overnight, and I struggled to comprehend the weight of it all. As the news continued to report on the outrageous offers I was receiving, doubt crept into the minds of many. People began questioning whether the Golden Wolf, the protector of nature and advocate for equality, would truly stay true to her purpose or succumb to the allure of money. These doubts lingered in my mind as well, threatening to pull me away from the path I had set for myself. In the midst of this chaos, I almost fell victim to a company that was particularly skilled in branding. They had a compelling narrative and seemed genuinely interested in making a positive impact on the world. At first, it was love at first sight. I was thrilled to have the chance to be involved with such a high profile company. However, as I delved deeper into their motives, it became evident that they were driven solely by profit. Their true intentions were masked by a cleverly crafted facade, and it took the guidance of my trusted companion, Edrick, to see through their deception. Edrick, ever the wise and discerning soul, helped me navigate through the sea of offers. Together, we carefully scrutinized each proposition, seeking the genuine ones from those that were merely seeking to exploit my fame. We rejected all those with insincere intentions, determined to stay true to our mission of making the world a more equitable place. It was a lot of work for a while, and a lot of late nights were spent sifting through mountains of proposal letters and applications. However, amidst all of the chaos, we discovered a small organization that aligned perfectly with our values. “Look,” I said late one night as Edrick and I sat up and worked through the sea of paperwork. It was just a couple of months before Daisy was set to be born, and my belly was practically bursting as I leaned forward to hand Edrick the piece of paper that caught my attention. “Look at this organization I just found.” Edrick furrowed his brow as he took the letter from me. “Humanity’s Reach Initiative,” he said under his breath. Edrick furrowed his brow as he took the letter from me. “Humanity’s Reach Initiative,” he said under his breath. “They’re not offering any money,” I said, feeling my chest swell a bit with excitement. “All they want is someone who is really dedicated to helping the world.” Edrick looked a little skeptical. “We can give them a call if you’d like,” he said, supportive as always. “We’ll call tomorrow.” Indeed, the next day we called Humanity’s Reach Initiative. Within a few weeks, I was signing my first contract. They may not have had the grandeur or financial prowess of the other offers, but their dedication and commitment to their cause shone through. Their passion for creating a better world was undeniable, and I knew deep in my heart that they were the right choice. Rather than merely accepting their invitation, Edrick went a step further. He decided to invest in this organization, recognizing the immense potential they held to effect real change. It was a gesture that truly touched my soul. Together, we wanted to nurture and uplift those who shared our vision, knowing that every small step towards progress mattered. When we made our decision, the runner of the organization expressed her immense gratitude. Her name was Jolene, and we had been working closely with her for a few months. Countless press conferences, public events, and charity galas later, Jolene wrote a heartfelt letter, publicly thanking both Edrick and me for believing in their cause: To Moana and Edrick Morgan: I hope this letter finds you both in the best of spirits, for it carries with it an abundance of gratitude and appreciation. It is with utmost sincerity and admiration that I reach out to express my heartfelt thanks for your unwavering support and belief in our organization, Humanity’s Reach Initiative. Words alone cannot capture the depth of gratitude that fills my heart as I reflect upon the momentous decision you both made. Your selection of our small organization, despite the limited financial resources we possess, has reaffirmed our unwavering dedication to creating a more equal and just world. It is through the genuine intentions and unwavering commitment of individuals like yourselves that our vision can come to fruition. Your rejection of the enticing monetary offers from other brands and NGOs speaks volumes about your character and the values you hold dear. In a world driven by profit and self-interest, you have remained steadfast in your pursuit of genuine change. The trust you have placed in us is both humbling and inspiring, and it fuels our resolve to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those who need it most. Edrick’s decision to invest in our organization goes beyond mere financial support. It represents a partnership built on shared values and a mutual understanding of the potential we possess to create lasting change. Your investment is not just in our organization, but in the countless lives we aim to uplift and empower. Please accept my heartfelt thanks for recognizing the true essence of our work, which extends far beyond financial gain. Your belief in our mission to foster equality and justice serves as a guiding light, propelling us forward in our endeavors. Your support provides us with the means to continue advocating for those who have been marginalized and forgotten. In light of your generous support, we pledge to remain transparent, accountable, and focused on our shared goals. Your trust empowers us to dream bigger, to reach further, and to touch the lives of countless individuals who yearn for a better future. On behalf of the entire Humanity’s Reach Initiative, I extend my deepest gratitude to both of you. Your decision to choose purpose over profit has reinvigorated our spirits and solidified our commitment to the cause we hold so dear. We are honored to have you as partners in our journey, and we look forward to forging a future of meaningful impact, together. With immense appreciation and warmest regards, Jolene Leader, Humanity’s Reach Initiative Reading that letter, which was published in the local newspaper, made tears come to my eyes. But beyond that, it was humbling. It was a humbling experience to witness the impact we could have on someone’s life by extending a helping hand. Their gratitude reassured me that we had made the right choice amidst all the chaos. In the days that followed, as news of our collaboration spread, I realized the true power that lay within me. It was not just the power of being the Golden Wolf, but the power to choose, to discern, and to inspire change. I understood that the path I had been thrust upon was not just about protecting nature but also about using my influence to create a more just and compassionate world. The overwhelming offers and temptations had momentarily veered me off course, but with Edrick’s guidance, I found my way back. Together, we rejected the falsehoods and embraced the genuine opportunities. We were determined to remain steadfast in our purpose, never allowing ourselves to be swayed by materialistic desires. With so much change underway, the world really did feel like my oyster. And I was prepared to weather the tides of the ocean as the Golden Wolf, so long as I had my newfound family by my side.
