All Her Secrets Chapter 128 by Chestnut

Chapter 128 An Angel

Upon hearing Audrey’s words, Catherine slowly raised her head and looked at her. She glanced at Audrey’s face indifferently. “You’re not fat. You can eat some!”

As a makeup blogger, Audrey paid a lot of attention to skincare. Perhaps, she wasn’t born as pretty as Catherine, but her skin was already well-maintained.

Catherine’s praise couldn’t comfort Audrey at all. “Kathy, you don’t know about how the camera works. I’m as heavy as you are, but my face looks a lot bigger than yours. I can only make myself look better on camera by constantly losing weight. If I can have a face as small as yours, I won’t have any worries then.”

Catherine had such a pretty face. No wonder Kim was desperate to sign her. She was really drop-dead gorgeous!

Admittedly, her beauty was beyond compare. While eating quietly, Catherine kept scrutinizing Audrey.

She used to think that Audrey spent the money she earned all on herself. Given that Audrey had bought so many clothes for her, Catherine figured that Audrey couldn’t be a frugal woman.

Afterward, she found that Audrey actually was not generous with herself but with the people around her. She was even generous with Catherine, the sister she hadn’t met for more than 10 years!

To make money, Audrey did suffer a lot. Catherine just couldn’t help wondering whether it was worth it or not. After coming back to Audrey’s home from the restaurant, Catherine still didn’t figure out the answer. She decided to discuss this with Ronin someday. Suddenly, Audrey’s cry broke into her thoughts.

“Oh, my goodness…”

Audrey was astonished by the scene in front of her and couldn’t help exclaiming. She subconsciously got away from the door and took a look at the door plate. After confirming that it was her apartment, she shifted her gaze to Catherine.

“Kathy, did an angel come to my place? Catherine darted a slightly dismissive glance at her. “Fairytales aren’t for adults. If you insist on calling a housekeeper an angel, it’s fine by me.”

Audrey was really impressed by what Catherine had just done. She had hired housekeepers before, but they never did a satisfactory job. In the end, she stopped hiring housekeepers and did the cleaning herself.

The housekeeper Catherine hired this time was really amazing. Audrey hurriedly sprang at her and said, ” Kathy, where did you hire the housekeeper? Give me her number. I’ll hire her later as well.”

Catherine had no idea. “I asked my friend to hire the housekeeper. I don’t know her number, either!”

It happened that Audrey saw the statement on the table and figured that it should be left by the housekeeper. She immediately got excited.

“There’s a bill. I’ll check it out myself!”

The moment she picked up the bill and saw the figure, Audrey almost passed out. “Oh my gosh, Kathy! Are you sure it’s over 10,000 dollars instead of over 1,000 dollars?”

Catherine took a sip of the water and said casually, “Can’t you understand the figure?”

Originally, Audrey wanted to hire such a housekeeper regularly, but as it appeared now, she couldn’t afford one at all.

“Kathy, how can you spend so much money hiring a housekeeper? This is too expensive. Is this a fraud? Give me your friend’s number. I’ll call the housekeeper’s agency.”

Catherine didn’t resist. Since Audrey wanted to figure it out, Catherine just gave her the number. Catherine found Ronin’s number on her phone and passed it to Audrey.

Audrey glanced at the contact’s name and made the call. She had prepared a speech to defend Catherine. In her eyes, Catherine must have paid the housekeeper’s fee with the card Audrey had given to her.

Since she had given the money to Catherine, it was Catherine’s money. She wouldn’t care about how Catherine used it. Yet, the fact that she didn’t care didn’t mean that she had no problem with getting ripped off by a fraud.

After the call was put through, a young voice came from the phone. “Boss, what can I do for you?”

“This is Audrey.”

Ronin was dazed to hear Audrey’s voice and said anxiously, “How come you’re holding my boss’s phone? Is there anything wrong with her?”

As he got nervous at once, Audrey hastened to explain, “No. I’m calling to ask you about the housekeeper’s fee. Do you think…”

Before she finished saying, she was interrupted by Ronin.

“Oh, the housekeeper? Are you satisfied?”

“Yes!” The apartment was so perfectly cleaned, which Audrey was quite satisfied with.

As soon as she replied, Ronin also responded right away, saying, “Good thing that you’re satisfied. Then, I’ll tell the housekeeper to do the cleaning every week.”

After knowing that Catherine would stay at Audrey’s place for a while, Ronin made all the arrangements well in order to let Catherine enjoy her stay there.

“Every week?” Audrey raised her voice right away. The cleaning service would cost more than 10,000 dollars per time. If the housekeeper came and offered the service every week, it would cost 50,000 or 60,000 dollars per month.

How could she afford that?

“No, no, no, we don’t need it. Mr. Oconnor, we can’t afford it! We can accept one housekeeping service per month and hope that you can help us get a discount.”

As the housekeeper came to clean the apartment after Catherine’s call, Audrey thought Catherine’s friend was the owner of a housekeeping company.

That was why she said so to Ronin.

[10:42 pm, 30/09/2023] Nothing: Hearing Audrey’s words, Ronin felt totally at sea. “Discount? No need to get a discount. I’ll get everything arranged for you. Is once per week not enough? How about twice every week?”

No need to get a discount?

Audrey seemed to realize what he meant and then said in a daze, “Are you saying that we don’t have to pay?”

“Of course, you don’t need to!”

Certainly, Catherine didn’t have to pay for the housekeeping. Ronin could directly send the housekeeping staff of the company there. It was not that he wanted to use their own staff to save trouble.

Instead, their housekeeping staff was strictly selected, with only those who could suit Catherine’s requests the most. He would not feel reassured about other people.
Nothing: “Then, why did the housekeeper leave the bill?” Audrey asked carefully.

“Oh, the bill? It’s for accounting. Just throw it away.”

Hearing Ronin’s causal voice, Audrey felt that she shouldn’t communicate with him. She decided to hang up the phone first.

After hanging up, Audrey came to Catherine with a surprised expression.

“Kathy, is this friend very close to you?

For her, Ronin was like a student and a brother. They were close indeed. Seeing that Catherine nodded, Audrey couldn’t help asking further, “Do you know him for a long time? And your friend is very rich?”

She had known Ronin for years. Ronin was in charge of many departments of the company. He was dealing with many businesses.

He could acquire lots of dividends. Although he didn’t earn as much as she did, compared with ordinary people, he was rich indeed. So, Catherine nodded again.

Since Ronin had no problems paying the housekeeping fee of a few ten thousand dollars per month to a friend, he must be rather rich.

Audrey could be sure of that.

“Kathy, is he a friend you knew in the countryside?”

“Umm?” As she kept asking, Catherine couldn’t help asking, “Any problem?”

Audrey grinned. “No. I just feel that the countryside is quite nice. I also want to sojourn there and make more friends!” Catherine didn’t know what to say.

Chapter 249: Purpose Over Profit

Moana The months in between Michael going to prison and Daisy’s birth were a whirlwind of emotions and unexpected turns. After the incident with Michael, where he was sentenced to prison for his attempt on my life, my world took another astonishing twist. The news outlets revealed a shocking revelation: Moana, the seemingly ordinary girl who was raised in an orphanage, was, in fact, the legendary Golden Wolf. I never imagined my life could become so entangled in a web of fame and attention. Suddenly, everyone wanted a piece of me. All sorts of brands and non-governmental organizations bombarded me with invitations and tempting monetary offers. It was overwhelming, to say the least. My inbox was flooded with messages from high-profile companies and influential figures, all hoping to capitalize on my newfound fame. It felt like the world had changed overnight, and I struggled to comprehend the weight of it all. As the news continued to report on the outrageous offers I was receiving, doubt crept into the minds of many. People began questioning whether the Golden Wolf, the protector of nature and advocate for equality, would truly stay true to her purpose or succumb to the allure of money. These doubts lingered in my mind as well, threatening to pull me away from the path I had set for myself. In the midst of this chaos, I almost fell victim to a company that was particularly skilled in branding. They had a compelling narrative and seemed genuinely interested in making a positive impact on the world. At first, it was love at first sight. I was thrilled to have the chance to be involved with such a high profile company. However, as I delved deeper into their motives, it became evident that they were driven solely by profit. Their true intentions were masked by a cleverly crafted facade, and it took the guidance of my trusted companion, Edrick, to see through their deception. Edrick, ever the wise and discerning soul, helped me navigate through the sea of offers. Together, we carefully scrutinized each proposition, seeking the genuine ones from those that were merely seeking to exploit my fame. We rejected all those with insincere intentions, determined to stay true to our mission of making the world a more equitable place. It was a lot of work for a while, and a lot of late nights were spent sifting through mountains of proposal letters and applications. However, amidst all of the chaos, we discovered a small organization that aligned perfectly with our values. “Look,” I said late one night as Edrick and I sat up and worked through the sea of paperwork. It was just a couple of months before Daisy was set to be born, and my belly was practically bursting as I leaned forward to hand Edrick the piece of paper that caught my attention. “Look at this organization I just found.” Edrick furrowed his brow as he took the letter from me. “Humanity’s Reach Initiative,” he said under his breath. Edrick furrowed his brow as he took the letter from me. “Humanity’s Reach Initiative,” he said under his breath. “They’re not offering any money,” I said, feeling my chest swell a bit with excitement. “All they want is someone who is really dedicated to helping the world.” Edrick looked a little skeptical. “We can give them a call if you’d like,” he said, supportive as always. “We’ll call tomorrow.” Indeed, the next day we called Humanity’s Reach Initiative. Within a few weeks, I was signing my first contract. They may not have had the grandeur or financial prowess of the other offers, but their dedication and commitment to their cause shone through. Their passion for creating a better world was undeniable, and I knew deep in my heart that they were the right choice. Rather than merely accepting their invitation, Edrick went a step further. He decided to invest in this organization, recognizing the immense potential they held to effect real change. It was a gesture that truly touched my soul. Together, we wanted to nurture and uplift those who shared our vision, knowing that every small step towards progress mattered. When we made our decision, the runner of the organization expressed her immense gratitude. Her name was Jolene, and we had been working closely with her for a few months. Countless press conferences, public events, and charity galas later, Jolene wrote a heartfelt letter, publicly thanking both Edrick and me for believing in their cause: To Moana and Edrick Morgan: I hope this letter finds you both in the best of spirits, for it carries with it an abundance of gratitude and appreciation. It is with utmost sincerity and admiration that I reach out to express my heartfelt thanks for your unwavering support and belief in our organization, Humanity’s Reach Initiative. Words alone cannot capture the depth of gratitude that fills my heart as I reflect upon the momentous decision you both made. Your selection of our small organization, despite the limited financial resources we possess, has reaffirmed our unwavering dedication to creating a more equal and just world. It is through the genuine intentions and unwavering commitment of individuals like yourselves that our vision can come to fruition. Your rejection of the enticing monetary offers from other brands and NGOs speaks volumes about your character and the values you hold dear. In a world driven by profit and self-interest, you have remained steadfast in your pursuit of genuine change. The trust you have placed in us is both humbling and inspiring, and it fuels our resolve to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those who need it most. Edrick’s decision to invest in our organization goes beyond mere financial support. It represents a partnership built on shared values and a mutual understanding of the potential we possess to create lasting change. Your investment is not just in our organization, but in the countless lives we aim to uplift and empower. Please accept my heartfelt thanks for recognizing the true essence of our work, which extends far beyond financial gain. Your belief in our mission to foster equality and justice serves as a guiding light, propelling us forward in our endeavors. Your support provides us with the means to continue advocating for those who have been marginalized and forgotten. In light of your generous support, we pledge to remain transparent, accountable, and focused on our shared goals. Your trust empowers us to dream bigger, to reach further, and to touch the lives of countless individuals who yearn for a better future. On behalf of the entire Humanity’s Reach Initiative, I extend my deepest gratitude to both of you. Your decision to choose purpose over profit has reinvigorated our spirits and solidified our commitment to the cause we hold so dear. We are honored to have you as partners in our journey, and we look forward to forging a future of meaningful impact, together. With immense appreciation and warmest regards, Jolene Leader, Humanity’s Reach Initiative Reading that letter, which was published in the local newspaper, made tears come to my eyes. But beyond that, it was humbling. It was a humbling experience to witness the impact we could have on someone’s life by extending a helping hand. Their gratitude reassured me that we had made the right choice amidst all the chaos. In the days that followed, as news of our collaboration spread, I realized the true power that lay within me. It was not just the power of being the Golden Wolf, but the power to choose, to discern, and to inspire change. I understood that the path I had been thrust upon was not just about protecting nature but also about using my influence to create a more just and compassionate world. The overwhelming offers and temptations had momentarily veered me off course, but with Edrick’s guidance, I found my way back. Together, we rejected the falsehoods and embraced the genuine opportunities. We were determined to remain steadfast in our purpose, never allowing ourselves to be swayed by materialistic desires. With so much change underway, the world really did feel like my oyster. And I was prepared to weather the tides of the ocean as the Golden Wolf, so long as I had my newfound family by my side.
